TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

PROBLEMCAUSE

Will not start

Out of fuel.

Engine not =CHOKED" properly.

Engine flooded.

Bad spark plug.

Dirty air filter.

Dirty fuel filter.

Water in fuel.

Loose or damaged widng.

Carburetor out of adjust- ment.

Engine valves out of adjustment.

Hard to start

Dirty

air filter.

 

 

Bad spark

plug.

Weak or dead battery,

Dirty

fuel filter,

Stale

or dirty fuel.

Loose or damaged wiring.

Carburetor

out of adjust-

 

ment.

 

 

Engine valves out of

 

adjustment.

Engine will not tum Clutch/brake pedal not

overdepressed.

Attachment clutch is engaged.

Weak or dead battery.

Blown fuse.

Corroded battery termi- nals.

Loose or damaged wiring.

Faulty ignition switch.

Faulty solenoid or starter.

Faulty operator presence

CORRECTION

Fill fuel tank.

See =TO START ENGINE" in

Operation section.

Wait several minutes before attempting to start.

Replace spark plug.

Clean/replace air filter.

Replace fuel filter.

Drain fuel tank and carbure- tor, refill tank with fresh

gasoline and replace fuel fil- ter.

Check all widngo

in Service and Adjustments section.

Contact an authorized ser- vice center,

Clean/replace air filter.

Replace spark plug.

Recharge or replace battery.

Replace fuel filter.

Drain fuel tank and refill with fresh gasoline.

Check all widng.

Contact an authorized ser- vice center.

I.Depress clutch/brake pedal.

Disengage attachment clutch.

Recharge or replace battery.

Replace fuse.

Clean battery terminals.

Check all widng.

Check/replace ignition switch.

Check/replace solenoid or starter.

Contact an authorized ser- vice center.
