Replacing Trail Shield

Neveroperatemowerunlessthe trail shieldisin placeandworking. Neveroperatemowerwithdamagedsafetydevices.Failureto do so can resultin personalinjury.

Thetrail shieldis subjectto wearanddamagewhichcouldexpose movingpartsor allowobjectsto bethrown.Forsafetyprotection, frequentlycheckthe trail shieldandreplaceimmediatelywithoriginal equipmentmanufacturer's(OEM)part only,931-05686.

1.Toremovetrail shield,lift reardoorandremovescrewsholding trailshieldin place.

2.Pressshieldin oneithersideto removefromhole.SeeFigure14.

BLADE CARE

Periodicallyinspectthe bladeadapterfor cracks,especiallyif you

strikea foreignobject. Replacewhennecessary.Followthe steps belowfor bladeservice.

Blade Removal

Whenremovingthe cuttingbladefor sharpeningor replacement, protectyourhandswitha pairof heavyglovesor usea heavyragto holdthe blade.Becertainto stopmotorandunplugmower.

. Stopthe motorand unplugthe mower.Turnthe moweron itsside.

2.Placea 2x4blockof woodapproximately8.5" longbetweenthe deckhousingandthe cuttingbladeto act as a stabilizer.See Figure15.
