TO START ENGINE WiTH A WEAK BATTER'/'

CAUTION: Lead-acid batteries gener- ate explosive gases. Keep sparks, flame and smoking materials away from bat-

teries. Always wear eye protection when around batteries.

If your battery is too weak to start the engine, it should be

recharged If "jumper cables" are used for emergency starting, follow this procedure:

IMPORTANT: YOUR TRACTOR IS EQUIPPED WITH A 12 VOLT NEGATIVE GROUNDED SYSTEM, THE OTHER

VEHICLE MUST ALSO BE A t2 VOLT NEGATIVE GROUNDED SYSTEM. DO NOT USE YOUR TRACTOR BATTERY TO START OTHER VEHICLES

TO ATTACH JUMPER CABLES

o Connect each end of the RED cable to the POSITIVE

(+)terminal of each battery, taking care not to short against chassis.

,Connect one end of the BLACK cable to the NEGA- TIVE (-) terminal of fully charged battery.

oConnect the other end of the BLACK cable to good CHASSIS GROUND, away from fuel tank and battery.

TO REMOVE CABLES, REVERSE ORDER -

o BLACK cabie first from chassis and then from the fully

charged battery

o RED cable last from both batteries_

TO REPLACE FUSE

Replace with 30 amp automotive-type plug-in fuse. The fuse holder is located behind the dash.

TO REMOVE HOOD AND GRILL ASSEMBLY

(See Fig. 33)

,,Raise hood.

,,Unsnap headlight wire connector.

oStand in front of tractor. Grasp hood at sides, tilt toward engine and lift off of tractor.

o To replace, reverse above procedures.

TO ADJUST THROTTLE CONTROL CABLE

"POSITIVE" (+)

(See Fig. 34)

 

The throttle control has been preset at the factory and

 

adjustment should not be neeessary_ Check adjustment as

 

described below before loosening cable. If adjustment is

 

necessar,!, proceed as foNows:

o With engine not running, move throttle control lever to fast (,t_,) position..

o Check that swivel is against side of quarter circle. If it is not, !oosen cable clamp screw and pull cable back until swivel is against quarter circle. Tighten cable clamp screw securely.

TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULB o Raise hood

oPull bulb holder out of the hole in the backside of the grill.

oReplace bulb in holder and push bulb holder securely back into the hole in the backside of the grill

o Close hood
