**Factory wound frames are wound using specialized equipment and then varnish dipped. Although it is physically possible for a motor shop to rewind a failed field winding, experience has shown that rewinds cannot offer an accept- able service life due to the difficulty in winding the many turns of small diameter wire without damage.
