SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

We recommend that you use a bar that is longer than the diameter of the tree, so that you can make the FELLING CUT and DIRECTIONAL CUT with single cutting stokes. (See ”Technical data” to find out which lengths of bar are recommended for your saw).

There are methods for felling trees with a diameter larger than the bar length. However these methods involve a much greater risk that the kickback zone of the bar will come into contact with the tree.

UNLESS YOU HAVE SPECIAL TRAINING WE ADVISE YOU NOT TO FELL TREES WITH A DIAMETER LARGER THAN THE BAR LENGTH OF YOUR SAW!

E Limbing

MOST KICKBACK ACCIDENTS HAPPEN DURING LIMBING!PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE POSITION OF THE KICKBACK ZONE OF THE BAR WHEN YOU ARE LIMBING BRANCHES THAT ARE IN TENSION!

Make sure there are no obstacles in your way. Work on the left side of the trunk. Work close to the saw for maximum control. If possible, let the weight of the saw rest on the trunk.

Keep the tree between you and the saw as you move along the trunk.

F Cutting the trunk into logs

See chapter ”General working instructions” point 2 ”Basic cutting technique”.

BCutting trees and branches that are in tension Preparations:

a)Work out which way the tree or branch will move if released and where the natural “BREAKING POINT” is (i.e. the place it would break if it was bent even more).

b)Decide which is the SAFEST way to release the tension and whether YOU are able to do it safely. In complicated situations the only safe method is to put aside your chain saw and use a winch.

General advice:

a)Position yourself so that you will be clear of the

tree or branch when it springs free.

b)Make one or more cuts at or near the BREAKING POINT. Make as many cuts of sufficient depth as necessary to reduce the tension and make the tree or branch break at the

BREAKING POINT.

Never cut straight through a tree or branch that is IS in tension!

The Husqvarna 51 is a well-regarded chainsaw that has made its mark in the world of outdoor power equipment. Renowned for its balance of performance and usability, the Husqvarna 51 is often favored by both amateur woodcutters and professionals alike. This versatile chainsaw is designed for a range of tasks, from light-duty pruning to more demanding woodcutting jobs.

One of the standout features of the Husqvarna 51 is its powerful 2.3 horsepower engine. This robust engine allows the saw to tackle larger cuts with ease, making it a reliable tool for any woodcutting needs. Coupled with a lightweight design, the chainsaw ensures reduced fatigue during prolonged use, enhancing user comfort and efficiency.

The Husqvarna 51 utilizes a simple yet effective starting system known as the Smart Start technology. This feature minimizes resistance in the starter cord, allowing for easier and quicker engine starts. Consequently, even less experienced users can confidently get the saw up and running without unnecessary frustration.

Another important characteristic of this model is its air injection system. This technology works by using centrifugal force to remove larger debris from the air filter before it reaches the engine. As a result, the filter stays cleaner for longer, reducing the frequency of maintenance and ensuring optimal engine performance. This system significantly prolongs the life of the chainsaw while maintaining high power levels.

The Husqvarna 51 also features an adjustable oil pump that allows operators to control oil flow as needed. This ensures proper lubrication of the chain and bar, which is critical for maintaining performance and extending the lifespan of the cutting components. The saw’s chrome-plated cylinder further contributes to durability by providing an added layer of resistance against wear and tear.

Safety is a priority with the Husqvarna 51, which comes equipped with an inertia-activated chain brake. This feature automatically stops the chain in the event of kickback, providing additional peace of mind to the user. The front hand guard and ergonomic handle design also enhance user control, contributing to a safer and more comfortable cutting experience.

Overall, the Husqvarna 51 stands out as a reliable, sturdy, and user-friendly chainsaw. Its blend of power, technology, and safety features makes it an ideal choice for a variety of cutting tasks, making it popular among both casual users and seasoned professionals. Whether you are trimming branches or cutting firewood, this chainsaw offers the performance you need for effective woodcutting.
