TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE: INSTALLATION TIPS:

1. Use shielded wire for the communication path, and ground one end of the shield to an earth ground.

2. Run intercom wire at least 20" away from AC wiring, fluorescent lights or dimmer switches.

3. Keep intercom cable away from alarm, data, phone, video cables, and any other potential source of

interference.

4. Door release wires must be in a separately jacketed cable from the intercom wires. Use two separate

cables; one for audio and one for door release.

5. When installing a second master station, wire must be run from the first master station, not from the

door station. See diagram on page 2.

6. Do not install the master station near light switches, dimmer switches, or other devices that may

cause interference with the intercom system.

7. Do not install the master station on the opposite wall from the door station. If the units are too close,

acoustical feedback may result.

# PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
1No ca ll in fr o m door to master, but com municat io n
works fine. Reversed DAK-2S component module.
When d o o r ca lls in , it sh o rts th e # 1 te rm in a l to th e E te rminal. If the
DAK-2S is instal led backwards the chime from t he door call-in wil l not
be heard. Inst all the DAK-2S component module with t he bare wire
end under the 1 termi nal, and the door stati on 1 wire tied to the
colored wire end of the DAK-2S.
2When the talk but ton is pressed, the ot her master
rings. Missi ng or reversed DAK-2S component
module. Instal l the DAK-2S component module as described above and
shown on dual master ins tructions.
3When the talk but ton is pressed, f eedback is heard
at both masters. Common power supply.
If both C-ML/A' s share the same power supply, a ground l oop
feedback will occur when the talk butt on is pushed. Install separate
SKK-620's for each mast er, or install batteries in eac h master.
4 Unit appears dead; no function ality. Terminals 1 and - c rossed.
"+ / -" ar e on left column, "E / 1" are on right col umn. If swapped, unit
will appear dead. Verify that 1 wire f rom the door station i s connected
to 1, and negati ve of power supply is connected t o -.
5 System squeal s and batteries get hot . Power supply and batteri es both installe d. Take batteries out of the master stati on. Both power sources cannot
be used simultaneousl y.
6 Chime t one sounds weak, lower frequency. Weak batteries or l ow voltage. If batteries inst alled, replace t hem. If power supply, check f or 6V DC.
If low, i nstall new SKK-620 power supply.
7 Master stays on; does not ti me out. Incorrect cabl e being used.
If the res istance of the wire i s too great, usuall y from exceeding
distance li mitations, t he master may not time out as designed. Refer
to wire speci fications in t he instructions.
8 Voic e volume is too loud or too sof t. Volume cont rol not adjusted prop erly.
Remove front cover of C-ML/A and locate volume potenti ometer
through hole at the bottom of the unit . Use a small screwdriver t o
adjust the v olume, clockwise to i ncrease.
9 Chime t one volume is too loud. Standard volume level .
There is not a separ ate call tone volume adj ustment on the C-ML/A,
so the volume level cannot be altered. Surf ace mount component
level modif ication would be requir ed, which is not practi cal.
10 RY-AC external signal ing relay not working. Missing or wrong connection.
Make sure the negati ve from the 12V DC supply for the RY-AC is
connected to the negat ive of the C-ML/A master. Make sure the
WHITE wire of the RY-AC is connec ted to the DAK-2S component
module to 1 termina l, not negative ter minal.
