Crossover Network Settings

System Type 2

Filter Description:

In this system type, both woofer and tweeter are mounted apart at different distances and angles relative to the listening position, with the tweeter as the closest driver. While this type of installation is undoubtedly the most common today due to ease of installation, some may not consider it to be an ideal situation for imaging due to the large difference in distance. Through the use of this network’s powerful phase correction capabilities however, this disparity is dramatically reduced, to the point where this system type can be considered nearly ideal in many cases. In general though, a high tweeter location is thought to be advantageous for improving perceived height & width of the soundstage, as well as achieving a strong high frequency output level. In typical OEM woofer locations, the woofer is nearly always at an extreme listening angle (considered to be approx. 70° for config.A), while the tweeter is relatively on-axis. Configuration B should be considered if the woofer is at a considerably greater distance than usual, or at a more extreme listening angle (approx. 70-80°). Therefore, the key difference between these two configurations is the amount of phase shift used on the woofer to achieve phase linkage with the tweeter. Additionally, if driver/passenger specific tuning is desired, different settings may be used between networks in a system.

Although the listening angle associated with such installation was incorporated into the phase correction settings, it may be desirable to alter the midrange characteristic or tweeter level due to personal taste, or to further compensate for off-axis listening. Please note however, that it is not possible to allow user adjustment of the woofer axis/character settings (WF jumper group) in configuration B.

Configuration du filtre de voies

Type de système 2
