24. CHANNEL 3: INPUTS - Thetypeofinputmustdirectlyreecttheselectedmodeofthe CHANNEL LINE

tothese jacks.The redcoloredRCA jackrepresents theright channelinput andthe whiterepresents the
leftchannelinput.Inputvolumewillbecontrolledbychannelthree fader. Thechannel SOURCE SELECTOR
SWITCH (3) mustbein the“Analog” position,tomonitor anysourceconnected tothesejacks. Turntables
equippedwithMMpickupcartridge(AllDJturntableuseMMpick-upcartridges)maybeconnectedtothese
jacksaslongastheCHANNEL LINE LEVEL SELECTOR SWITCH (23)isinthe“PHONO”position.WhenCD
players,TapeDecksandotherlinelevelinstrumentsareconnectedtothesejackstheCHANNEL LINE LEVEL
SELECTOR SWITCH (23) isin the“LINE” position.Neverconnect linelevel instruments(CD players,tape
decks,etc.) tothese jackswhen theCHANNEL LINE LEVEL SELECTOR SWITCH (23) isin the“PHONO”
position, THIS MAY SERIOUSLY DAMAGE YOUR MIXER! Thered colored RCA jack represents the right
channelinputandthewhiterepresentstheleftchannelinput.Thechannel SOURCE SELECTOR SWITCH (3)
mustbeinthe“Analog”position,tomonitoranysourceconnectedtothesejacks.
25. CHANNEL 4: LINE 4 INPUT JACKS - DO NOT CONNECT TURNTABLES TO THESE JACKS!CDplayers,
TapeDecksandotherlinelevelinstrumentsmaybeconnectedtothesejacks.TheredcoloredRCAjackrep-
resentstherightchannelinputandthewhiterepresentstheleftchannelinput.Inputvolumewillbecontrolled
bychannelone fader. The channel SOURCE SELECTOR SWITCH (3) mustbe inthe“Analog” position,to
monitoranysourceconnectedtothesejacks.
26. RCA MASTER OUTPUTS - TheMasterOutputincludes apair XLR BALANCED JACKS (28) as well as
apairofRCA UnbalancedJacks. TheRCAjackssendalowcurrentunbalancedoutput signal.Thesejacks
shouldonlybeusedfor shortercablerunstosignal processorsorloopingtoanothermixer.Forcableruns
greaterthan15feetusethe XLR BALANCED JACKS (28).
27. BOOTH OUTPUTS -TheVMS4offersasecondaryoutput usuallyusedtomonitoryourmixor toroute
toanoutboardrecordingdevice.Thisoutputhas independentvolumecontrol“Booth”knob.
28. BALANCED XLR MASTER OUTPUT JACKS - TheMasterOutputincludesapairofXLRBalancedjacks
aswell as a pair of RCA UNBALANCED JACKS (26). The 3-pin XLR jacks send a high current balanced
outputsignal.Thesejacks shouldbeused whenyouwillbe drivinganamp orotheraudioequipment with
abalancedinput,orwheneveryouwillberunningasignallinegreaterthan15feet.Always,usethesejacks
wheneverpossible.
29. USB PORT -ConnecttoyourcomputerforMIDI interfaceandUSBinterface(audioinand outs).
30. MAIN POWER SWITCH - Thisisthemain powerON/OFFbutton.Beforemainpoweris applied,be
sureyouhavemadeallconnections tothemixer.Alsobesureyour amplier(s)is(are)tunedoff.Remember
toavoiddamagingpopstothe speakers,themixeristurnedonrst andturnedofflast.
31. AC CONNECTION - Thisconnectoris usedtosupply mainpowertothe unitviathe includeddetach-
ablepowercord.Thepowerconnection usesanI.E.C.typeconnector,useonlythe supplied,polarizedAC
powercord.Useonlya powercordthatmatchesthis typeofconnection.Be suretoonlyconnectthisunit
toapoweroutletthatmatchestheprintedpowerlabelontheunit.Neveruseapowercordwhentheground
pronghasbeen removedorbroken off.Theground prongisused toreducethe riskofelectric alshockin
caseofanelectricalshort.Thiscordisdesignedtotinonedirectiononly.Donotattempttoforceacordif
itdoesnott,besurethecordisbeinginsertedproperly.
FUSE HOLDER – Thishousingstoresthe10ampGMAprotectivefuse.Alwaysreplacewiththeexactsame
typefuse,unlessotherwiseinstructed,byanauthorizedAmericanAudio®servicetechnician.Replacingwith
