2.10 Connecting Power

Use the following procedure to connect power to the switch:

Important! Carefully review the power requirements (Chapter 2.3) before connecting power to the unit.

1.Plug one end of the supplied power cord into the power con- nector on the back of the unit.

2.Plug the other end into a grounded AC outlet. The Power LED will begin its initialization process.

The front panel LEDs blink and the Power LED illuminates when it has initialized. The switch is ready for connection to the network.

Important: If the power does not come on, refer to Appendix A: Troubleshooting.

2.11 Connecting to the Network

The switch may be connected to an Ethernet network with the unit powered on or off. Use the following procedure to make your net- work connections:

1.Connect network devices to the switch, following the cable guidelines outlined below.

2.After the unit is connected to the network, it can be configured for management capabilities. Please refer to the User’s Manual on the CD-ROM for instructions on how to set up the manage- ment features of the switch.

2.11.1 10/100BaseTX Ports Cabling Procedures

The 24 10/100 ports on the switch allow for the connection of 10BaseT or 100BaseTX network devices. The ports are compatible with IEEE 802.3 and 802.3u standards.

Important: The switch must be located within 100 meters of its attached 10BaseT or 100BaseTX devices.

3524 Series specifications

Asante Technologies 3524 Series represents a robust solution for organizations seeking reliable performance in network switching. This series is particularly designed to accommodate the growing demands of modern networking environments, making it a compelling option for both small and medium-sized businesses.

At the heart of the Asante 3524 Series is its extensive port configuration. The series typically offers 24 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet ports, allowing for high-speed connectivity for a variety of devices. This high-density switching capability ensures that businesses can seamlessly connect numerous devices, from workstations to printers and IP cameras, all while maintaining optimal performance.

One of the standout features of the Asante 3524 Series is its support for Power over Ethernet (PoE). This technology enables the switch to deliver both data and power over the same Ethernet cable, simplifying installation and reducing cable clutter. This is particularly beneficial for devices like VoIP phones and security cameras that require both power and data connections. By leveraging PoE, organizations can enhance flexibility in device placement, minimizing the need for additional power outlets.

The series also offers advanced Layer 2 switching capabilities, which include VLAN support. Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) allow for network segmentation, improving security and performance by isolating different network segments. This feature is essential for businesses aiming to enhance their network's organization while also ensuring that sensitive data remains secure.

Another notable characteristic of the Asante 3524 Series is its web-based management interface. This user-friendly interface simplifies configuration and monitoring tasks, enabling network administrators to manage the switch efficiently. Additionally, the series supports SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), which allows for more advanced monitoring and management through compatible software.

Durability and reliability are key attributes of the Asante 3524 Series. Designed for continuous operation, these switches are built with high-quality components to ensure longevity even under demanding conditions. This reliability makes it an excellent choice for organizations that require 24/7 uptime for their critical network operations.

In summary, the Asante Technologies 3524 Series is an ideal choice for businesses seeking a powerful, reliable, and feature-rich switching solution. With its extensive port configuration, PoE support, VLAN capabilities, and user-friendly management, this series stands out as a valuable asset in today’s increasingly connected world.
