4.3.1Primary & Secondary IDE Master/Slave

Select any one of the four IDE device configuration fields from the main menu and press <Enter>. The default setting [Auto] leads you to a screen as follows:

Under the [Auto] setting, the BIOS is able to detect the drive type automatically during bootup. To show the detected hard drive information, press <Enter> when the IDE Device Configuration field is selected and the default setting [Auto] is shadowed. In the pop-up menu, select [Auto] and press <Enter> again. The shadowed option for the IDE Device Configuraiton field will turn to [User] and detected values will be filled in for the remaining of the fields (as shown below), but you can still make changes to these fields manually.

User Defined Drive Information

You may select [User] for the IDE Device Configuration field to manually enter the number of cylinders, heads, sectors, and so on for your drive.

NOTE: Before attempting to configure a hard disk drive, make sure you have the configuration information supplied by the manufacturer of the drive. Incorrect settings may cause your system to not recognize the installed hard disk.
