BATTERY INSTALLATION
Your FR-500 requires three “AAA” alkaline cells or three rechargeable “AAA” cells. Alka- line batteries will provide the best perfor- mance from your transceiver. Remove the battery compartment (5) cover by rotating the belt clip (4) up away from the battery compartment. Slide the com- partment cover downward while apply- ing pressure at its grooved section. Ob- serve the polarity symbols inside the bat- tery tray when installing the batteries. Whenever one or more batteries are removed and replaced, the unit turns on automatically as signaled by the sound of four ascending tones.

nNever attempt to charge alkaline batteries with the optional
