I am havi ng dif ficult y sett ing up Wired equiva lent
Privacy (WeP) security on my Router.
1. Log in to your Router. Visi t http://router/ with your web browser.
Click on the “Login” button in the top right-hand corner of the
screen. You will be ask ed to e nter y our pa ssword . If y ou have never
set a password, leave the “Password” field blank and click “Submit”.
2. Click “Wir eless ” in th e lef t-hand menu. Then
click “Security” just below that.
3. Select the “128-bit WEP” option.
4. You may type in a WEP key manua lly, or gener ate on e from
a passphr ase. Typ e a ph rase in the “Pass phras e” fie ld and
click the “Gen erate” butto n. A W EP key i s com posed of 26
hexadecimal digits (0–9, A–F.. For exampl e, C3 0 3 0F A F
4B B2 C3 D4 4B C3 D4 EE 74 is a v alid 128-bit WEP key.
5. Click “Appl y Chan ges” t o fini sh. You r wire less
activity is no w encr ypted . Each compu ter us ing yo ur
wireless network will need to use the new key.
note: If you ar e conf iguri ng the Route r over a wire less
connecti on, you will have t o re-c onnec t to t he
Router after changing any security settings.
note: Some old er net worki ng har dware suppor ts
only 64- bit WE P encr yptio n. If your o lder c ompute rs
cannot connect to your network, try 64-bit WEP.
