MCS 20 – MCS 221 Microphone Unit 34
3.2.2 Configuration switch
At the bottom of the delegate microphone units there are configuration switches. Depending on the “ON” or
“OFF” position, the functions listed in the table below are allocated. For programming functions of the MCS 223
chairman microphone unit, please refer to chapter 3.3.8 “Programming mode” and 3.3.9 “Table of programmable
functions”.
ON OFF
1* Microphone unit is counted to the limit Microphone unit is not counted to the limit
2* Microphone unit is counted to the limit in the
“VOICE” operation
Microphone unit is not counted to the limit in the
“VOICE” operation
3* Limit refers to microphone unit Limit does not refer to microphone unit
4* “VOICE” operation allowed “VOICE” operation not allowed
5* Microphone unit cannot be cleared; can be turned

8Microphone button enabled in “VOICE” operation Microphone button disabled in “VOICE” operation
*When this switch is set to “OFF”, the maximum number of simultaneously open delegate microphone units is more
than 8. This results in an increased power consumption.
Example of the configuration switches of a MCS 221 delegate microphone unit, which has been configured
to a “sub-chairman”.
1 OFF – Microphone unit is not counted to the limit
Switch 1 of this microphone unit is set to “OFF”: the microphone of this microphone unit and three other
MCS 221microphone units (= 4 microphone units) are activated. The limit of the MCS 223 chairman micro-
phone unit is set to 4. Another speaker can turn on his microphone even though, because the microphone
unit, whose switch is set to “OFF”, is not counted to the limit.
This function for example can be selected for a microphone unit to make announcements. This microphone
unit should not block the activation of the delegate microphone units.
