Para configurar uma área para o BLC (ou VMD), aceda ao menu de área seleccionando a opção AREA no menu BLC (ou VMD). Ao aceder ao menu AREA, a área actual é apresentada com o canto superior esquerdo intermitente. O canto intermitente da imagem pode ser movido com as teclas de seta para cima, para baixo, para a esquerda ou para a direita. Se premir a tecla de selecção, desloca o cursor intermitente para o canto oposto, podendo então ser movido. Se premir a tecla de selecção novamente, suspende a área e sai do menu de área.

Se as áreas VMD se sobrepõem, o movimento só é detectado na área com o número de sequência mais baixo.
