Extraction Guide

The 1 CUP button & 2 CUP button use duration to control espresso volume. The duration times are preset, but can be reprogrammed (refer to 'Programming Shot Volume/Duration', page 19). Alternatively, access the Advanced Features if you wish to use volumetric controls instead of duration to determine espresso volume (refer to 'Flow Measurement Method (VoL)', page 25).

BES980 specifications

The Breville BES980, also known as the Oracle, is a sophisticated espresso machine that combines professional-level performance with user-friendly features. This premium espresso maker is designed to cater to coffee aficionados and novices alike, providing an all-in-one solution for brewing café-quality espresso at home.

One of the standout features of the BES980 is its dual boiler system. This innovative design allows for simultaneous extraction of espresso and steam for frothing milk, eliminating wait times and ensuring optimal temperature control for both processes. The machine is equipped with a 15-bar Italian pump that guarantees consistent pressure during extraction, resulting in rich and flavorful espresso shots.

The Oracle incorporates advanced PID temperature control, which stabilizes the water temperature to within one degree for precise brewing. This technology ensures that the water is always at the optimal temperature for the specific coffee bean being used, allowing users to achieve the perfect balance of flavors in their espresso.

Another noteworthy characteristic of the BES980 is its integrated conical burr grinder. This grind-on-demand feature allows users to grind fresh coffee beans just before brewing, enhancing the overall taste and aroma of the espresso. The grinder offers customizable settings for burr size and grind time, enabling users to achieve their desired grind consistency.

The milk frothing capability of the BES980 is enhanced by its steam wand, which employs a smart frothing system. This technology measures the milk temperature and creates the ideal microfoam, allowing for latte art and velvety textures that rival coffee shop offerings. The machine also includes a pre-infusion function that gently soaks the coffee grounds before extraction, ensuring even saturation and improved flavor extraction.

In terms of user interface, the Oracle features a user-friendly LCD display that guides users through the brewing process. It offers programmability for shots and milk temperatures, allowing for personalized preferences. Additionally, the machine has a maintenance reminder system, which helps users keep track of cleaning and descaling schedules.

Overall, the Breville BES980 Oracle is a remarkable espresso machine that combines cutting-edge technology with thoughtful design. Its dual boiler system, precise temperature control, integrated grinder, and advanced milk frothing capabilities make it an exceptional choice for anyone looking to elevate their home coffee experience. With the BES980, brewing barista-quality espresso has never been more accessible.
