For Mac OS® X usersYou need to install the PS driv er using the following instruc tions.
■If a Brother Native Driver (MFC-8440/8840D) is already
listed in Printer list, you will need to delete it and then install
the PS driver.
■To use the PS driver with a USB cab le, you need to set the
Emulation to BR-Script3 (For MFC-8440 and
MFC-8840D, Menu, 4, 1. For DCP-8040 and DCP-8045D,
Menu, 3, 1.) before connecting the USB cable. (See Setting
the Emulation Selection on pa ge 1-18.)

Select Applications from the Go menu.

Open the Utilities folder.
■If you use a USB cable and your Macintosh® is “Mac O S® X”,
only one printer driver fo r a machine can be registered in
Print Center.
