Configuring Your ELS10-26

To change the subnet mask, at the LCM prompt:

1.Type ipaddr <PORT-NUMBER> <IP ADDRESS> <SUBNET MASK>

For example, ipaddr 6 192.138.217.40 255.255.240.0 would set the subnet mask for port 6 to 255.255.240.0. LCM responds by redisplaying the current address table.

Note: When you change the subnet mask for a port, you must also enter the IP address for that port. Make sure you enter the IP address for the port correctly; whatever you enter becomes the IP address for that port.

3.2 ENABLING BRIDGING

The LCM bridge command allows you to set bridging options for a single port or a range of ports. The options include:

off

on (the default with BPDU enabled)

noBPDU

BPDU (Bridge Protocol Data Unit) is a data unit transmitted as part of the IEEE 802.1d Spanning Tree protocol. The exchange of BPDUs allows bridges within a network to logically configure the network as a single spanning tree.

Note: Selecting the noBPDU option could make your network inoperable because the ELS10-26 would be unable to detect loops.
