Using the Built-in Flash

In indoors, low light, or backlit conditions, just pop-up the built-in flash and press the shutter button to take flash pictures. In the <d> mode, the shutter speed (1/60 sec. - 1/200 sec.) will be set automatically to prevent camera shake.

1 Press the <D> button.

In Creative Zone modes, you can press the <D> button anytime to take flash pictures.

While the flash is recycling, “DbuSY” is displayed in the viewfinder, and [BUSYD] is displayed on the upper left of the LCD monitor.

2 Press the shutter button halfway.

In the bottom left of the viewfinder, check that the <D> icon is lit.

If you shoot 20 images with flash at short intervals, the flash might stop operating. This is to protect the flash unit. If you press the shutter button halfway and “DbuSY” is displayed in the viewfinder (and [BUSYD] on the LCD monitor), wait until the display turns off. You can then use flash again.
