SAFETY GUIDELINES

1..

Read all instructionsii before use!

 

Failure to read, understand and follow these instructions may result in an otherwise avoidable accident. You or you passengers could be seriously

 

injured or die.

2..

The safe and proper use of thiis product iis your responsibiility!

 

In addition to your usual safe bicycle practices, the rules listed below must be followed at all times.

3..

Use thiis trailer onlly with non--motorized bicyclesil capablle of supportingi the additiionall loadl of the trailer and child..

 

Do not use your trailer on motorcycles, mopeds, automobiles or any other motor vehicle. Check the information supplied with your bike to verify

 

compatibility or ask your dealer.

4..

Make sure your bikei iis iin good workingi conditiion..

 

We recommend a frequent safety check of your bike.

5..

Do not modify or alter trailer or bikei..

 

Ask your Chariot Dealer if you are not sure whether your bicycle is compatible with your trailer.

6..

Children must be at leastl 1 year old,l, and be ablle to sit uprighti alonel..

 

If your child is too small to properly wear the smallest size approved helmet they should not ride in the trailer.

 

Consult your pediatricianiii before carryingi any child younger than one year..

7..

Both cyclist and children must wear approved bicyclile helmetsl..

8..

Do not exceed the maximumi trailer loadl of 100 lbsl.. (45( kg.. )) for children and cargo..

 

Articles carried in the trailer should be well anchored to avoid shifting during travel. Unstable loads and overloading make the trailer less stable and

 

more difficult to control.

9..

Alwaysl fasten shoulderl harness,, lapl belt and crotch strap securelly and tightlily around children..

 

Periodically check placement of shoulder straps, especially for a sleeping child. Make sure children cannot put fingers into the wheel spokes.

 

Instruct children not to bounce, rock or lean.

10.. Do not leavel children unattended iin the trailer..

11..

To insurei a smooth ride,i, keep tires inflatedil to 30--35 P..S..II.. Check tire pressure before each use..

Over inflating tires or use of high pressure tires can cause the trailer to overturn.

12.. Do not use a kickstandi or other parkingi devicei to support the bicyclile with a trailer attached..

Attaching a trailer can change the balance of the bicycle making kickstands ineffective. The bicycle can fall over, damaging it and the trailer.

13.. Alwaysl use the highi visibiiility flagl supplied with the trailer..

Do not assume you have the right-of-way. Do not pull your trailer in high traffic areas such as busy streets, highways or anyplace it may be unsafe to ride with children.

14.. Do not transport bicyclile on an automobile with the trailer attached.. 15.. Alwaysl obey all traffiic laws,l, and use proper hand signalils..

16.. Avoidi ridingii at nighti..

Your ability to see and be seen is greatly reduced. If you must ride at night, use proper lighting and reflectors on your bike and wear bright reflective clothing.

TRAILER MAINTENANCE, CARE and STORAGE

A.. Hitch Maintenancei

Periodically check the hitch for damage, cracks, etc. Replace at first sign of damage. Any damage / deterioration on any parts of your Chariot carrier should be repaired / replaced immediately to reduce the risk of personal injury.

B.. Fabric/Shei/ll Care

Your Chariot trailer is manufactured from a tough, durable, water resistant fabric. Clean fabric with household soap or mild detergent and warm water only. Wipe dry. Do not machine dry.

C.. Wheells

Wheels should be serviced by a Chariot dealer at least twice a year. Check wheels for loose spokes and proper alignment every time you use your Chariot trailer.

D.. Storage

Store your trailer in a dry, well-ventilated area. To avoiid mildew,, make sure trailer iis dry before storingi . Keep your trailer out of the sun when not in use to reduce fading. Do not store the trailer attached to your bike.

Alwaysl check all parts every timei you use your trailer!!

D.HITCH ARM ASSEMBLY

Note:: Any reference to leftl or righti iis made from the trailer passengers'' pointi of view,i, while iin the trailer..

Insert hitch arm straighti into the 'left' hitch arm attachment bracket. Figurei 4..

When inserted properly the end cap on the hitch arm should be seen from the back of the hitch arm attachment bracket. Insert safety snap pin up through the holes in BOTH the hitch arm attachment bracket and the hitch arm.

Lock safety snap piin by securingi the clip over the pin!i

Secure the secondary safety strap from the hitch arm attachment bracket to the D-ring on the hitch arm. Figurei 5..

WARNING!I FAILUREI TO LOCK SAFETY SNAP PIIN AND SECURE SAFETY STRAP COULD CAUSE THE TRAILERI TO SEPARATE FROM THE BICYCLE,I, RESULTINGI IIN AN ACCIDENTI AND SERIOUSI INJURYI..

E.HIGH VISIBILITY FLAG ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION

1.. Assemble safety flag by inserting one end of pole into the other.

2.. Insert flag pole down through the fabric sleeve located at the top rear left corner of the trailer.

Note:: Remove the flagl before collapsingi the trailer or the flagl polle will break..

WARNING!I DO NOT RIDEI WITHOUTI FLAG IIN PLACE.. FAILUREI TO USE HIGHI VISIBILITYIIII FLAG COULD RESULT IIN AN OTHERWISEI

D.MONTAGE DU BRAS DU DISPOSITIF D'ATTELAGE

REMARQUE:: Toute référence à lla gauche ou à lla droite est du pointi de vue du passager assiis dans lla remorque.. 1.. Insérer le bras du dispositif d'attelage dans la fixation de gauche. Figurei 4..

Si le bras du dispositif d'attelage est posé correctement, l'embout du bras devrait être visible à l'arrière de la fixation du bras du dispositif

 

d'attelage.

Insérer la goupille de sécurité au travers des trous de la fixation ET du bras du dispositif d'attelage.

 

3..

Fixeri lla bouclle sur lla goupille de sécurité..

 

4..

Fixer la courroie de sécurité secondaire du bras du dispositf d'attelage à l'anneau en forme de D du bras. Figurei 5..

 

MISEI EN GARDE!

SII LA GOUPILLEI DE SÉCURITÉI ET LA COURROIIE DE SÉCURITÉI NE SONT PAS INSTALLÉESI CORRECTEMENT,, LA REMORQUE

 

 

POURRAIIT SE DÉTACHER DU VÉLO ET OCCASIONNERI UN ACCIDENTI ET DE GRAVES BLESSURES..

 

E.ASSEMBLAGE ET INSTALLATION DU FANION DE SÉCURITÉ

1.. Assemblez le fanion de sécurité en insérant les extrémités de la tige l'une dans l'autre.

2.. Glisser la tige du fanion dans la coulisse de tissu située au coin supérieur arrière dl la remorque.

REMARQUE:: Retirez lle fanioni avant de replier lla remorque sans quoii lla tigei se cassera..
