Small Platform Feature

The Cisco BTS 10200 Softswitch small platform is a Cisco BTS 10200 Softswitch that provides full functionality at a reduced cost, space, and call processing capacity. The benefit of the small platform is that its low cost and physically small hardware platform make it suitable for evaluations, trials, or small market deployments where initial entry costs are a factor.

Note Supporting third party hardware is NEBS Level 1 and Level 3 compliant.

The host computing system chosen as the initial target for this feature is the Sun Systems Sunfire V120 or a Netra T120, configured with 2 GB of memory for Element Management System (EMS) hosting, and 2 GB for Call Agent hosting. These memory sizes are the same as the current Cisco BTS 10200 Softswitch medium platform, and require no change to any memory-related sizing parameters. The reduced form factor host also has only one CPU.

The small platform has two differing system capacities, namely cable market (using dynamic quality of service [DQoS]) and noncable market. The numbers of subscribers and ports supported are derived numbers based on usage averages and are not hard maximum limits to be enforced. Rather, they are minimum inferred limits based on usage assumptions. The enforced ceilings are exactly the same as for the medium platform in any given release.

ISDN PRI Variant

The ISDN PRI Variant feature enhances the Cisco BTS 10200 Softswitch ISDN PRI implementation by allowing interconnection to small, and medium, businesses using legacy PBX PRI interfaces. The new design provides for the transport of additional PRI Information Elements (IEs) and two new messages. The IEs include high layer compatibility (HLC), low layer compatibility (LLC), redirecting number (RGN), original called number (OCN), and Connected Number (CN). Message support is also provided for Notify and Facility messages, and new supplementary service support is provided for the Calling Name feature.

The Cisco BTS 10200 supports all standard NI2s. Additionally, interoperability has been enhanced to also support the following new PRI variants:

Nortel DMS-100

AT&T 4ESS

Lucent 5ESS

The PRI enhancements offered with this feature provide the following:

PRI variant support for basic call handling

Calling and Connected Name delivery

Calling Number Identification Service (CLIP/CLIR)

Redirecting Number support

Improved Maintenance Message support

CALEA Feature

The Cisco BTS 10200 Softswitch provides support for Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) using two different architectures: PacketCable, and the Cisco Service Independent Intercept (SII). Release 3.5 adds support for Cisco SII. In order to support CALEA, a

BTS 10200 specifications

Cisco Systems BTS 10200 is a robust platform designed to meet the demands of modern telecommunications. This session border controller (SBC) facilitates the management of voice over IP (VoIP) traffic, enabling secure and efficient communication across diverse networks. The BTS 10200 plays a critical role in integrating voice and data services while ensuring high-quality user experiences and regulatory compliance.

One of the standout features of the BTS 10200 is its ability to support a wide range of protocols, making it highly versatile. It is compatible with both legacy systems and modern IP-based solutions, ensuring seamless interoperability. This adaptability allows service providers to migrate to next-generation networks without disrupting existing services.

The BTS 10200 is built upon a highly scalable architecture, allowing it to handle large volumes of traffic. This scalability is crucial for service providers as they expand their networks to accommodate more users and services. The platform supports hundreds of thousands of simultaneous sessions, which is essential for large-scale deployments such as in mobile and fixed-line networks.

Security is a paramount feature of the BTS 10200. It incorporates multiple layers of security protocols, including encryption and authentication mechanisms, to protect against unauthorized access and potential cyber threats. The platform also features robust filtering and Denial of Service (DoS) protection, ensuring that VoIP services remain stable and reliable even under adverse conditions.

Quality of Service (QoS) management is another critical characteristic of the BTS 10200. It allows for traffic prioritization to ensure that voice signals maintain clarity and reduce latency. Through advanced traffic shaping and management techniques, service providers can enhance the overall user experience even during peak usage periods.

Furthermore, the BTS 10200 supports a wide array of management and monitoring tools, enabling network administrators to gain insights into performance metrics, traffic trends, and system health. This data-driven approach allows for intelligent decision-making and proactive maintenance.

In summary, the Cisco Systems BTS 10200 is a powerful, secure, and scalable solution for managing voice and data services in today's complex telecommunications environment. Its combination of protocol support, robust security measures, QoS capabilities, and management tools positions it as a key asset for service providers looking to enhance their offerings and ensure reliable communications for their users.
