Overview of the EHWIC 1 GE-SFP-CU

The Cisco Gigabit Ethernet WAN EHWIC (EHWIC 1 GE-SFP-CU) is an enhanced high-speed interface card providing copper and optical Gigabit Ethernet ports and connectivity of T1/E1 and T3/E3 over optical for Cisco ISRs.

The EHWIC 1 GE-SFP-CU provides copper and optical Gigabit Ethernet connectivity through a dual-purpose uplink.

Note The EHWIC 1GE SFP CU provides maximum 800 Mbps unidirectional and 1600 Mbps bidirectional Ethernet throughput, but the actual throughput is limited by the platform.

The SFP slot supports Cisco certified copper or optical SFPs. For a list of supported SFPs, see Connecting Gigabit Ethernet High-Speed WAN Interface Cards.

The EHWIC 1GE SFP CU is a true routed port card. IP addresses can be directly configured on the EHWIC interface unlike SVI configurations in which the port is configured for VLAN trunking.

The Mean Time Between Failover(MTBF) for this module is 3162805 hours.
