Turnthe On-Off/Volume knob clockwise to turn
thepower on and set the desired listening volume.

CB Antenna

Onlya properly matched Antenna system will
allowmaximum power output. In mobile installations
(cars,trucks, boats, etc.), an Antenna system that is
non-directionalshould be used. When installed in a
boat,the transceiver will not operate at maximum
efficiencywithout a ground plate unless the vessel
hasa steel hull. Before installing the transceiver
ina boat, consult your dealer for information
regardingan adequate grounding system.
NOTE
Cobraloaded-type antenna modelsHGA 1000 and
HGA1500 are highly recommendedfor most
installations.Consult yourCobra dealer for further
details(or see order form on page 17).
Three-waycombination antennasare available
whichallow operation of all threebands (AM-FM
andCB), using a single antenna. However,use
ofthis type of antenna usually resultsin less
thannormal transmit and receiverange when
comparedto a standard-type “SingleBand”
antennadesigned for CB only.

Microphone Connector

Allowsfor convenient removal of the Microphone plug
whenstorage is required. The Microphone MUST be
connectedto the unit at all times, when in use, for
properoperation.

Antenna Connector

Thisfemale Connector on the rear panel permits
connectionof the transmission line cable male
connectorto the transceiver.

External Speaker

Theexternal speaker jack on the rear panel is used
foran External Speaker. The external speaker should
have8-ohm impedance and be rated to handle at
least4.0 watts. When the external speaker is plugged
in,the internal speaker is automatically disconnected.
NOTE
Cobraexternal speakers are rated15 watts.

Public Address (PA)

Anexternal PA speaker may be connected
tothe PA speaker jack when used as a public
addresssystem. The speaker should be directed
awayfrom the microphone to prevent acoustic
feed-back.Physical separation or isolation of
themicrophone and speaker must be employed
whenoperating the PA at high output levels.

Power

Thesewires supply Power to the CB radio.
Thiscable is permanently attached to the radio.
Ifyou wish to remove the radio after installation,
disconnectat fuse holder and ground connector.
