CAUTION: Loosely tightened connectors can cause exces- sive voltage drops and may result in overheated wires and melted insulation.

CAUTION: A reverse polarity connection (positive to nega- tive) will blow the fuse in the inverter and may permanently damage the unit.

CAUTION: Remove any jewel- ry (watch, ring etc.). Be careful not to short circuit the battery with any metallic object (wrench, etc.).

2.Connect the cables to the power input termi- nals on right side panel of the inverter. The red terminal is positive (+) and the black terminal is negative (-). Insert the bare ends of the cables into the terminals and tighten the screws to clamp the wires safely.

3.Connect the cable from the negative (black) terminal of inverter to the negative terminal of the power source. Make a secure connection.

All power connections to your Cobra inverter must be positive to positive and negative to negative.

4.Connect the cable from the positive (red) termi- nal of the inverter to the positive terminal of the power source. Make a secure connection.

5.If a DC power supply is being used as the power source, switch it On. Turn the ON/OFF switch on the inverter to the On position. Check the meters on the left side panel. The voltage should indicate between 11 and 14 volts, depending on the voltage of the power source.

6.Turn the inverter’s ON/OFF switch to the Off position. The indicator lights may blink and the internal alarm may sound momentarily. This is normal. Plug the test load into the AC receptacle on the left side panel of the invert- er. Leave the test load switched Off.

7.Switch the inverter’s ON/OFF switch to the On position and turn the test load On. The inverter should supply power to the load.

If it does not, please consult the troubleshoot- ing section in this manual.

WARNING: You may observe a spark when making the con- nection because current can flow to charge the capacitors in the inverter. Do not make

this connection in the pres- ence of flammable fumes.

Explosion or fire may result.
