Creating MP3/WMA Files
You can create your own digital audio les f or personal use by “rip ping” your
music CDs and converting them t o an MP3 or WMA.
To create your own MP3  les, you will need a compu ter with an ap plication
installed that can rip and enco de MP3s or WMA s. Windows Media Player
10 is one software application made available by Microsof t that will rip and
convert CDs to an MP3 or WMA le .
Ripping a CD copies and co nverts (encodes) the m usic from the CD to a
compressed digital audio l e.
Converting to MP3 and/or deselecti ng the “Copy Prote ct Music” option
will ensure the widest playback c ompatibility of yo ur music les.

How Do I Rip My Music CDs Usin g Windows Med ia Player 10?
Start the Windows Media Player 10 (WMP10) application. (If it is no t
installed on your computer, you will have to downlo ad and install the
program from www.micros oft.com).
Insert your music CD into your com puter’s CD-RO M drive.
Click the “Rip” tab.
Set the appropriate options, and then click “Rip Music ” to begin the rip-
ping process.
The converted le will be saved to your “My Music” folder unless you have
specied otherwise.

How Do I Transfer MP3/WM A Music Files t o my MP3 Player?
When your MP3 Player is con nected to a compu ter, you may transfer m usic
les to your MP3 player using your operating system’s basic le management
commands (i.e., co py-and-paste or drag- and-drop). Please refer to your
