WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or
safety glasses with side shields when operating
tools. Failure to do so could result in objects
being thrown into your eyes, resulting in possible
sedous injury.
DRILLING
See Figure 8.
I
Move the ddll bit intothe workpiece applying only
enough pressure to keep the bit cutting. Do notforce
or apply side pressure to elongate a hole.
WARNING: Beprepared for binding or bit
breakthrough. When these situations occur, ddll
has a tendency to grab and kickopposite to the
direction of rotationand could cause loss of
controlwhen breaking through matedal. If not
prepared, this loss ofcontrol can result in
possible serious injury.
When drillingmetals, use a light oil onthe drillbit to
keep it from overheating, The oil will prolong the life of
the bitand increasethe drillingaction.
If the bit jams in workpiece or if the drill stalls, release
switchtrigger immediately. Remove the bitfrom the
workpiece and determine the reason for jamming.
LEVEL DRILLING
See Figure 8.
Aconvenient new feature provided with your drill is a
level. It isrecessed inthe motor housing on topof
your drill. Itcan be used to keep drill bitslevel during
drillingoperations.
Fig. 8
When drilling hard smooth surfaces use a center
punch to mark desired hole location. This will prevent
the drill bit from slipping off center as the hole is
started. However, the low speed feature allows
starting holes without center punching if desired. To
accomplish this, simply operate your drill at a low
speed until the hole is started.
The material to be drilled should be secured in avise
or with clamps to keep it from turning as the drill bit
rotates.
" Hold tool firmly and place the bit at the point to be
drilled. Depress the .switch trigger to start tool.
