_1= WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or
safety glasses with side shields when operating
tools. Failure to do so could result in objects
beingthrown into your eyes, resulting inpossible
serious injury.
DRILLING
See Figure 11.
When ddlling hard smooth surfaces use a center
punch to mark desired hole location. This will prevent
the ddllbit from slippingoff center as the hole is
started. However, the low speed feature allows
starting holes without center punching if desired. To
accomplish this, simply operate your drill at a low
speed untilthe hole is started.
The matedal to be drilled should be secured in a vise
or with clamps to keep itfrom tuming as the drill bit
rotates.
Hold tool firmly and place the bit at the point to be
ddlled. Depress the switch trigger to start tool.
Move the drill bit into the workplace applying only
enough pressure to keep the bitcutting. Do not force
orapply side pressure to elongate a hole.
When drillingmetals, use a light oil on the ddll bit to
keep it from overheating. The oil willprolong the life of
the bit and increase the ddlling action.
If the bitjams in workpiece or if the ddll stall_, release
switch trigger immediately. Remove the bit from the
workpiece and determine the reason for jamming.
CHUCK REMOVAL
See Figures 12, 13, and 14.
The chuck must be removed in order to use some
accessories. To remove:
Lock the switch trigger by placing the direction of
rotation selector incenter position.
Inserta 5/16 inchor larger allen wrench (hex key

_1, WARNING: Be prepared for binding or bit
breakthrough. When these situations occur, drill

directionof rotation and could cause lossof
controlwhen breaking through material. If not
prepared, this loss of controlcan result in
possibleserious injury.
