CHANGING THE TRANSMISSION DRIVE

BELT

Severalcomponentsmustbe removedand specialtoolsusedinorder to changethe tractor'stransmissiondrivebelt. Seea Searsorother qualifiedservicedealerto havethe transmissiondrivebelt replaced.

CHANGING THE DECK BELT

Shutthe engineoff andremoveignitionkeybeforeremovingthe cuttingblade(s)for sharpeningor replacement.Protectyourhands usingheavygloveswhengraspingbladesand pulleys.

TheV-beltsfoundon yourtractorarespeciallydesignedto engage anddisengagesafely.A substitute(non-OEM)Vibeltcan bedanger- ous by notdisengagingcompletely.Fora properworkingmachine, use factoryapprovedbeltsas listedin the PartsListof thismanual..

All beltsonyourtractoraresubjectto wearandshouldbereplacedif any signsof wear arepresent. Tochangeor replacethe deck belton yourtractor,proceedas follows:

1.Removethe deckas instructedinthe CuttingDecksection.

2.Removethe beltcoversfromtheouter spindlesby removingthe

hexwasherscrewsthatfastenthemto the deck.SeeFigure15.
