Using the Console Interface

Out-of-band management and consolesettings
You can use the Out-of-Band/Console Setting menu to choose whether to
use the Switch’s RS-232C serial port for console management or for out-of-
band TCP/IP communications using SLIP, and to set the bit rate used for
SLIP communications.
The following fields can be set:
System Restart Setting:
Serial Port Type: determines whether the serial port should be used
for out-of-band (SLIP) management or for console management,
starting from the next time the Switch is restarted. In this field, you
can toggle between Out-of-band or Console port type settings.
Out-of-Band Baud Rate: determines the serial port bit rate that will
be used the next time the Switch is restarted. Applies only when the
serial port is being used for out-of-band (SLIP) management; it does
not apply when the port is used for the console port. Available speeds
are 2400, 9600, 19200 and 38,400 bits per second..
