Windows NT and Windows 2000 SAN ConfigurationsThis chapterprovides an example of a Windows NT and Windows 2000 SAN configu-
ration and provideshigh-level installation instructionsfor installing the Windows SAN
with eitherPowerVault 650F and 651F storage systemsor the 660F storage system.

Windows NT or Windows 2000 SAN
Figure 3-1 showsan example of a Windows NT or Windows 2000 SAN configuration
with 20 Windows NT or Windows20 00 servers. Installationprocedures for a
Windows SANvary depending on whether it includes the 650Fand 651F or the 660F.
Toinstall and configure the 650F or 651F in a Windows SAN, you should use the
followingmanagement software:
•Dell OpenManageDat a ManagedNode
•Dell OpenManageDat a Administratoror Dell OpenManage Data Supervisor
•Dell OpenManageApplication Transparent Failover(ATF)
•Dell OpenManageStorage Consolidation
•QLogicFibre Channel ConfigurationUtility
Toinstall and configure the 660F in a SAN, you need to use the followingsoftware:
•QLogicQLDirect
•QLogicFibre Channel ConfigurationUtility
•Dell OpenManage ArrayManager
Youdo not need Dell OpenManage Hardware InstrumentationPackage (HIP) if
ArrayM anageris used to manage only servers with Fibre Channel HBAs. How-
ever,if Array Manager is used to manage servers with PERC RAID controllers,
you must install HIPon the management station before installing Array Manager.
