Ifyour APR or computer gets wet or is damaged, follow the procedures
described in TroubleshootingYour Computer,inthe UsersGuide. If, after
followingthese procedures, you confirm that your APR or computer is not
operatingproperly, contact Dell. (See Getting Help,in the Users Guidefor the
appropriatetelephone number.)
Connecting External Devices to the APR
Theinput/output (I/O) connectors on the back of the APR duplicate the primary
connectorson the back and side of your computer. Table1-1 shows the icons for each
of the connectors on the back of the APR and indicates the t ype of external device(s)
thatcan be attached to each connector.

TheAC adapter that came with the APR connects to the AC
adapter connector.
Aserial device, such as a serial mouse, connects to the
serialconnector.
Amicrophone connects to the microphone connector.
Aspeaker or headphones connect to the line-out connector.
Anetwork interface cable connects to the NIC connector.
AUSB device, such as a USB mouse, connects to the USB
connector.
Anexternal phone line connects to the modem connector.
Anexternal monitor connects to the monitor connector.
Aparallel device, such as a printer, connects to the parallel
connector.
Anexternal Personal System/2 (PS/2)-compatible mouse
connectsto the PS/2 mouse connector.
Anexternal PS/2-compatible keyboard or external numeric
keypadconnects to the PS/2 keyboard connector.
Anexternal CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, CD-RW, Zip 250, or
diskettedrive connects to the external media bay connector.
