Configuring IPv6 Neighbor Discovery

Use the following commands to configure IPv6 Neighbor Discovery settings.

Configure parameters associated with network prefixes that
the router advertises in its Neighbor Discovery
advertisements.
• ipv6-prefix—IPv6 network prefix.
prefix-length
—IPv6 network prefix length.
valid-lifetime
—Valid lifetime of the router in seconds.
(Range: 0–4294967295 seconds.)
infinite
—Indicates lifetime value is infinite.
preferred-lifetime
—Preferred-lifetime of the router in
seconds. (Range: 0–4294967295 seconds.)
no-autoconfig
—Do not use the prefix for auto
configuration.
off-link
—Do not use the prefix for onlink determination.
ipv6 nd ra-interval

Set the transmission interval between router Neighbor
Discovery advertisements.

— The maximum interval durati on (Range:
4–1800 seconds).
minimum
— The minimum interval duration (Range: 3 –
(0.75 * maximum) seconds).
ipv6 nd ra-lifetime
seconds
Set the value that is placed in the Router Lifetime field of
the router Neighbor Discovery advertisements sent from the
interface.
The

seconds

value must be zero, or it must be an integer
between the value of the router advertisement transmission
interval and 9000 seconds. A value of zero means this router
is not to be used as the default router. (Range: 0-9000).
ipv6 nd suppress-ra Suppress router advertisement transmission on an interface.
ipv6 nd dad attempts
value
Set the number of duplicate address detection probes
transmitted while doing Neighbor Discovery.
The range for

is 0–600.
