This chapter provide s solutions to problems usually encoun tered du ring the installation and
operation of the adapte r.
1. Fo r Windows 98SE computers, if the Atheros Client Utility fails to load
after properly installation, click on the windows “Start” button on your
tool bar, s e lect the “ r un” bu tton , and enter
“C:\Windows\system\aegis2.exe” into the dialog box, then press enter, a
dialog box will po p up, please select “install” t hen p ress “enter”.
2. Fo r Windows XP or Windows XP SP1, please update your windows with
the following hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-
us%3B822603&x=10&y=13 if yo ur c o py of Wind ow s XP has bee n upda ted
with Service Pack 2 ( SP2 ), you do not need to a pply this hotfix.
3. Be fore Uninstalling the Atheros Client Utility and the Device Drivers,
please make sure the A theros Super-G USB dongle is un plugged from
the computer.
4. To Unins tall the Atheros Client Utility, please double click on “setup” on
your driver installation CD, then select the uninstall option, then press
enter.
5. I n the device manager, if “Atheros USB Wireless Adapter Firmware
Downloader” shows up under USB Controllers, please right click on the
ite m a nd se lect “uni ns tall ” to u ni nsta l l the devi ce. It is re comme nded
that you uninstall the Atheros Client Utility, reboot your computer and
reinsta ll the Athe ros Client U ti lity shoul d this situa tion ever occ ur.
6. In Windows ME, i f you receive an error about IP HLPAPI. DLL, please
logoff your account, and re-login your account.
7. In Windows 98SE/ME, E rr ors may be encountered when the drivers are
installed through the “Found New Hardware Wizard” by choosing “Don’t
search. I will cho ose the driver to install”. To p rev ent this error, please
follow page 7 of this user’s manua l.
