Removing modules

AMC modules

Note: The FortiGate-3810A supports only one FortiGate-ASM-S08 hard disk module.

Note: AMC modules are not hot swappable. Always ensure you properly shut down the

FortiGate unit before installing or removing a module.

To insert a module into a FortiGate chassis

1Ensure the FortiGate unit is powered off before proceeding.

2Remove the panel block on the FortiGate unit using the hot swap latch.

3Pull the latch on the module to the extended position.

4Insert the FortiGate module into the empty slot in the chassis. Ensure the Fortinet logo is right-side up. It should be on the upper-right corner of the module.

5Carefully guide the module into the chassis.

6Insert the module by applying moderate force to the front faceplate near the upper edge to slide the module into the slot.

The module should glide smoothly into the chassis. If you encounter any resistance while sliding the module in, the module could be aligned incorrectly. Pull the module back out and try inserting it again.

7Press the hot swap latch to lock in the module.

8Power on the FortiGate unit.

Removing modules

Should you need to remove a module, shut down the FortiGate unit using proper shut down procedures.

To remove a module

1Ensure the FortiGate unit is powered off before proceeding.

2To avoid any electrostatic discharge (ESD) when handling FortiGate modules, install in a static free area.

3Pull the hot swap latch on the right-hand side of the module to the extended position to unlock the module from the FortiGate unit.

4Gently pull the hot swap latch to remove the module.

Using the AMC modules

Hard disk module

The FortiGate ASM-S08 is a single-width 80 gigabyte hard disk that enables you to store log files, content archives locally on your FortiGate unit.

Using the hard disk, you can enable the FortiGate unit to log to the disk, and periodically upload rolled logs to a FortiAnalyzer unit for storage.
