Turning the Camera on and Off

Shooting Mode

Press the Gbutton to turn the camera on. The lens will extend and the lens cover will open.

Press Gagain to turn the camera off.

2Tip: Switching to Playback Mode

Press the abutton to start playback. Press the shutter button halfway to return to shooting mode.

3Cautions

•Pictures can be affected by fi ngerprints and other marks on the lens. Keep the lens clean.

•The Gbutton does not completely disconnect the camera from its power supply.

Playback Mode

To turn the camera on and begin playback, press the abutton for about a second.

Press the abutton again to turn the camera off.

2Tip: Switching to Shooting Mode

To exit to shooting mode, press the shutter button halfway. Press the abutton to return to playback.

2Tip: Auto Power Off

The monitor will dim to save power if no operations are performed for a while in shooting mode. Full brightness can be restored by operating any of the camera controls. The camera will turn off automatically if no operations are performed for the length of time selected in the AUTO POWER OFF menu (see page 78). To turn the camera on, press the Gbutton or press the abutton for about a second.
