NUsing the Flash (Intelligent Flash)

3Focus.

Press the shutter button halfway to focus. If the flash will fire, pwill be displayed when the shutter button is pressed halfway. At slow shutter speeds, k will appear in the display to warn that pictures may be blurred; use a tripod.

4Shoot.

Press the shutter button the rest of the way down to shoot.

c Caution

The fl ash may fi re several times with each shot. Do not move the camera until shooting is com- plete.

Red-Eye Removal

When ON is selected both for bFACE DETECTION in the shooting menu (pg. 88) and for BRED EYE REMOVAL in the setup menu (pg. 106), red-eye removal (J) is available in AUTO FLASH (K), FORCED FLASH (L), and SLOW SYNCHRO (M) modes. Red-eye removal minimizes red-eye caused when light from the fl ash is refl ected from the subject’s retinas as shown in the illustration at right.

2Tip: SAVE ORG IMAGE

Unprocessed copies of pictures taken using red-eye removal can be saved using tSAVE ORG IMAGE in the setup menu (pg. 107).
