BOTTOM COMPONENTS

Following is a brief description of your Tablet PC’s bottom panel components. (Figure 2-8)

Lithium ion Battery Compartment

The battery compartment contains the internal Lithium ion battery. The battery should be removed when the computer is stored over a long period of time or for swapping a discharged battery with a charged Lithium ion battery. See “Lithium ion Battery” on page 43.

Port Replicator Connector

This connector allows you to connect the optional port replicator.

Main Unit and Configuration Label

The configuration label shows the model number and other information about your LifeBook T4200 Series Tablet PC. In addition, the configuration portion of the label has the serial number and manufacturer informa- tion that you will need to give your support representa- tive. It identifies the exact version of various components of your Tablet PC.

Memory Upgrade Compartment

Your Tablet PC comes with high speed DDR2 Synchro- nous Dynamic RAM (SDRAM). The memory upgrade compartment allows you to expand the system memory capacity of your Tablet PC, hence improving overall performance. See “Memory Upgrade Module” on page 45.

Air Vents

The air vents are used to cool the system to prevent over- heating.

To protect your computer from damage and to optimize system performance, be

sure to keep all air all vents unobstructed,

clean, and clear of debris. This may require periodic cleaning, depending upon the environment in which the system is used.

Do not operate the computer in areas where the air vents can be obstructed, such as in tight enclosures or on soft surfaces like a bed or cushion.
