Operating in cold temperatures

Operating in cold temperatures

The ventilation slide cover (7) is factory set for use of the chain saw in normal temperatures. It can be changed for use in temperatures around or below freezing point. In this case the position of slide cover (7) is reversed to allow the air entering the carburettor to be first warmed by the engine to increase the efficiency of the operation.

1.Turn off the engine.

2.Loosen top cover knob (12) and remove cover (11).

3.Remove air filter (8) and disengage the choke control (18) from its grommet in the cylinder cover (6) and also remove the idle adjustment screw cover.

4.Remove the four screws that secure the cylinder cover

(6).Three screws are located in the chamber under the top cover. The fourth screw is located at the top front left- hand side of the saw.

5.Remove the cylinder cover (6).

6.Remove the slide cover, turn it the other way round with the snow crystal symbol at the top and the sun symbol at the bottom and replace the slide cover in the cylinder cover. Replace the cylinder cover and restore all other components in their original positions.

Operation

WARNINGS.

Always follow the safety instructions given at the front of this manual. This chain saw must only be used for cutting wood. It must not be used for cutting other types of material. Do not use the chain saw as a lever for lifting, moving or splitting objects.

Do not attach the chain saw to a fixed stand.

Do not attach any devices to the chain saw other than those specified by the manufacturer.

Helpful hints

Do not force the saw into the cut. Apply only light pressure whilst running the engine at full throttle.

If the saw chain gets caught in the cut, do not try to remove it by twisting the guide or pulling forcibly. Use a lever or wedge to open up the cut so that the saw chain is freed.
