2.Route the strings through the tailpiece, over the bridge, and into the inside of the tuning posts.

Note: Allow enough string slack for 2-3 com- plete winds around the tuning peg.

3.Turn the knobs to tighten the strings.

Measurements are taken at the following loca- tions along the first and eight strings.

1st fret

12th fret

To check the string height at the first fret:

1.Measure the string height at the first fret. The first string measurement should be 1/64", the 8th string should be 1/64"-1/32".

—If the string heights are correct (Figure 31), measure the string heights at the 12th fret.

—If the string heights are incorrect at the 1st fret, this is an indication that the string nut grooves must either be deeper or shal- lower.
