.The fan motor is thermostatically controlled and only runs when cooling is needed.

4Voltage/Amperage Adjustment Control

5Mode Switch

The Mode switch setting determines both the process and output On/Off control (see Sec- tion 4-3. Source of control (panel or remote) for the amount of output is selected on the Voltage/Amperage Control switch.

For Air Carbon Arc (CAC-A) cutting and gouging, place switch in Stick position. For

best results, place Inductance/Dig control in the maximum position.

6 Voltage/Amperage Control Switch

For front panel control, place switch in Panel position.

For remote control, make connections to Re- mote 14 receptacle, and place switch in Remote position. In most modes, remote control is a percent of the Voltage/Amperage Adjustment control setting (the value se- lected on Voltage/Amperage Adjustment control is maximum available on remote). In the MIG mode, remote control provides full range of unit output regardless of V/A Adjust control setting.

7 Inductance/Dig Control

Control adjusts Dig when a Stick (SMAW) welding position is selected on mode switch.

When set lower, short-circuit amperage at low arc voltage is the same as normal welding amperage.

When set higher, short-circuit amperage is in- creased at low arc voltage to assist with arc starts as well as reduce sticking while weld- ing (see volt-ampere curves in Section 3-3).

Select setting best suited for application.

Control adjusts inductance when a MIG (GMAW) position is selected on the mode switch. Inductance determines the “wetness” of the weld puddle. When set higher, “wet- ness” (puddle fluidity) increases.

When pulsed MIG, or one of the TIG (GTAW) processes is selected, this control is not func- tional.

OM-180 670Q specifications

The Hobart Welding Products OM-180 670Q is a versatile and reliable welding machine designed to meet the needs of both professional welders and DIY enthusiasts. Known for its user-friendly features and robust performance, the OM-180 670Q stands out in the market for its exceptional build quality and innovative technologies.

One of the main features of the OM-180 670Q is its MIG welding capability, which allows for precise and efficient welding on a variety of materials, including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. This makes it suitable for a broad range of applications, from auto body repairs to light industrial work. The welding machine operates on a 230V power supply, providing the flexibility needed for both home workshops and professional environments.

The device is equipped with a smooth and adjustable wire feed speed control, enabling welders to easily fine-tune their settings for optimal bead appearance and penetration. This feature ensures that users can achieve consistent results, regardless of the specific project requirements. Additionally, the OM-180 670Q includes a dual-gauge regulator, which allows for precise monitoring of gas flow, ensuring weld quality and reducing waste.

Another notable characteristic of the OM-180 670Q is its compact and portable design. The lightweight construction, combined with a built-in handle, makes it easy for users to transport the machine to different job sites or store it away when not in use. This portability does not compromise the durability of the product; the rugged outer shell is designed to withstand the rigors of daily use.

The Hobart OM-180 670Q also incorporates technological advancements such as the Auto-Set feature, which simplifies the setup process by automatically adjusting voltage and wire feed speed based on the selected material thickness. This takes the guesswork out of welding, making it accessible for novice welders while still offering flexibility for experienced users.

Safety is another critical aspect of the OM-180 670Q. It includes built-in safety features such as thermal overload protection, which prevents overheating, and a built-in fan to maintain optimal operating temperatures. Furthermore, its simplicity in design with fewer controls means that operators can focus on their skills without being overwhelmed by complex settings.

In summary, the Hobart Welding Products OM-180 670Q is a well-rounded welding machine that combines ease of use, advanced technology, and portability. Its ability to handle various materials, along with safety and precision features, makes it an excellent choice for both beginners and seasoned welders looking for a reliable tool for their projects.
