11. MAINTENANCE
Engine Fuel Filter FUEL’FILTER
The engine fuel filter is located under
the engine cover between the fuel cou-
pling and the fuel pump. Water or
sediment accumulated in the fuel filter
can cause loss of power or hard start-
ing.
Check interval:
Every 100 hours (Refer to the
maintenance schedule page 73).
Change interval:
Every 400 hours (Refer to the
maintenance schedule page 73).
B Gasoline is
extremely flammable, and gaso-
line
vapor can explode, causing
serious injury or death. Do not
smoke or allow flames or sparks
in your working area. KEEP
OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
Always work in a well-ventilated area.
Make sure that any fuel drained from the
outboard motor is stored in an approved
gasoline container. Be careful not to spill
any fuel when replacing the filter.
Spilled fuel or fuel vapor may ignite. If
any fuel is spilled, make sure the area is
dry before starting the engine.

Check 1. Disconnect the fuel hose connector
from the outboard motor.
2. Remove the engine cover.
