MAINTENANCE & ADJUSTMENTS
Air Cleaner Service Dirty air filters will restrict air flow to the carburetor, reducing
engine performance. If you operate the mower in very dusty
areas, clean the air filters more often than specified in the
MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE.
1 NOTICE 1
Operating the engine without air filters, or damaged filters, will allow
dirt to enter the engine, causing rapid engine wear. This type of
damage is not covered by the Distributor’s Limited Warranty.
AIR PAPER
1. Unscrew and remove the air cleaner cover knob, then remove
the air cleaner cover.
2. Remove the paper filter from the air cleaner housing. Remove
the foam filter from the cover.
3. Inspect the filters, and replace them if they are damaged.
4. Clean the filters.
Paper filter: Tap the filter several times on a hard surface to
remove dirt, or blow compressed air [not exceeding 207 kPa
(30 psi)] through the filter from the inside. Never try to brush off
dirt; brushing will force dirt into the fibers.
Foam filter: Clean in warm soapy water, rinse, and allow to
dry thoroughly. Or clean in nonflammable solvent and allow to
dry. Dip the filter in clean engine oil and squeeze out all
excess oil.
