Changing shadows
The Shadows control in the Exposure Adjustment tool lets you select the darkest printable value in the image. This allows you to bring out detail in areas that would otherwise become black. You may make dark parts of images:
■lighter to bring out details
■darker to minimize details
The range for the number in the Shadows field is set in the Preference Controls tab (see page 47).

A Shadows value close to or at zero generally produces an image with better shadow detail.
Bringing out details in dark areas
To bring out details in the dark areas of the image, decrease the number in the Shadows field:
■Click on the left side of the slider,
–or –
■type a lower number in the Shadows field, then press Tab or Enter,
–or –
■click the DOWN spin button next to the Shadows field.
The result of the change to Shadows can be seen in the preview area.
