∙Asynchronous File System I/O (/dev/async): Normally, direct I/O is synchronous and that can downgrade write performance significantly. For example, an application would block on a write I/O until the write completes.
With Asynchronous File System I/O, the direct I/O is also asynchronous in the same way as it is when the database is deployed on raw volumes.
Users interested in the Veritas Storage Foundation for Oracle features but having no need for high availability can choose HP Storage Management for Oracle (T2789xx) instead of SGSMO.
