HP-UX 11i Operating Environments (OEs) are HP-tested and integrated software packages that deliver the HP-UX 11i operating system and related software optimized to meet particular customer requirements. These operating environments are completely integrated, tested, and supported by HP, and are available on both HP Integrity and HP 9000 server environments.

HP-UX 11i v3 ships with four new OEs that deliver complete software environments designed to address specific customer requirements. The new OEs are available only for HP-UX 11i v3 on HP 9000 and HP Integrity servers.

∙Base OE (BOE)

∙Virtual Server OE (VSOE)

∙High Availability OE (HAOE)

∙Data Center OE (DCOE)

Some of the products included in the OEs are also available through the HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite.

For the Foundation OE (FOE) and Base OE (BOE), the following Veritas™ software by Symantec are included:

∙Base Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM)

∙Base Veritas File System (VxFS) also known as Journal File System (JFS)

For the Enterprise OE (EOE), High Availability OE (HAOE), and Virtual Server OE (VSOE), the full version of VxFS (also known as Online JFS) is included.

The Mission Critical OE (MCOE) and Data Center OE (DCOE) include the following products:

∙Serviceguard and Serviceguard Manager

∙ECMT

The HP Serviceguard Storage Management suite usually includes the full version of the VxVM and VxFS even if a customer uses an OE that only includes the base versions.
