Configuring the MER Mode

To configure the MER mode for the WAN interface, do as follows:
Step 1 Repeat from the step1 to the step 7 of 4.1.1 "Configuring the PPPoA Mode."
Step 2 On the Connection Type page, select MAC Encapsulation Routing (MER). Keep
other settings by the Internet Service Provider.
Step 3 Click Next to show the WAN IP Settings page, you can keep the default settings or set
the parameters refer to Table 4-5.
Parameters for the WAN IP Settings page
Parameter Description
DHCP Class Identifier It specifies the client.
WAN IP Address It specifies the WAN IP address of the PVC.
When the method for obtaining an IP address is set to
using a static IP address, the terminal provides this
parameter.
WAN Subnet Mask It specifies the WAN subnet mask of the PVC.
When the method for obtaining an IP address is set to
using a static IP address, the terminal provides this
parameter.
Primary DNS server It specifies the IP address of the primary DNS server used
by the PVC.
When the method for obtaining an IP address is set to
using a static IP address, the terminal provides this
parameter.
Secondary DNS server It specifies the IP address of the secondary DNS server
used by the PVC.
When the method for obtaining an IP address is set to
using a static IP address, the terminal provides this
parameter.
IpoE's
MTU:[296-1500]
The maximum length of the transported IP package with
the selected IPoE protocol.
Step 4 Click Next to show the Network Address Translation Settings page, just keep the
default settings. Make sure choose Data in the Service Name drop-down list box.
Step 5 Click Next to show the WAN Setup-Summary page, click Save to save the settings.
Click Back to make any modifications. Reboot the terminal so that the settings take effect.
