SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Safety instructions re garding the

surroundings

SNever allow children to use the machine.
SEnsure no one comes closer than 50 feet
(15 meters) when working.
SNever allow anyone else to use the
machine without first ensuring that they
have understood the contents of the
operator’s manual.

Safetyinstructions before starting

work

SInspect the working area. Remove any
objects such as stones, broken glas s,
nails, steel wire, string, etc. that can be
thrown or can wrap around the cutting
heador shaft.
SKeep others at a safe distance. Children,
animals, onlookers and helpers should
stand outside of the safety zone of 50
feet (15 met ers). Bystanders s hould be
encouraged to wear safety glasses. Stop
the machine immediately if anyone
should approach.
SCheck the entire machine before starting
work. Replace damaged parts. Check for
fuel leakage and that all safety guards
and covers are complete and fastened
securely. Check all nuts and bolts.
SCheck the cutting head
for cracks or any other
damage.
SEnsure the trimmer guard
is mounted and not
damaged.

Personal protection

SAlways wear boots and
other equipment described
in the “Personal protective
equipment” section.
SAlways wear working
clothes and heavy--duty
long pants.
SNever wear loose fitting
clothes or jewelry.
SPersons with long hair
should (for personal safety)
put their hair up.
General safety precautions
IMPORTANT!
SThe machine is only designed for trimming
grass.
SThe only accessories you can operate
with this engine unit are the cutting at-
tachments we recommend in the “Tech-
nical data” section.
SNever use wire, rope, string, etc.
SNever use the machine if you are tired, if
you have drunk alcohol, or if you are tak-
ingmedic ation that could affect your vi-
sion, your judgment or your coordination.
SNever use the machine in extreme weath-
erconditions such as severecold, very hot
and/or humid climates.
SNever use a machine that has been modi-
fied in any way from its original specifica-
tion.
SWear personal protective equipment. See
instructions in the “Personal protectiv e
equipment” section.
SNever use a machine that is faulty. Carry
out the checks, maintenance and service
instructions described in this manual.
Some maintenance and service measures
must be carried out by trained and quali-
fied specialists. See instructions in t he
“Maintenance” section.
SAll covers and guards must be fitted befor e
starting. Make sure the spark plug c ap and
lead are not damaged. Otherwise you
could get an electric shock.
SThe machine operator must ensure that
no people or animals come closer than
50 feet (15 meters) while working.
SStay clear of spinning line.
SSecure or remove loose clothing or cloth-
ing with loosely hanging ties, straps, tas -
sels, etc. They can be caught in moving
parts.
SBeing fully covered also helps protec t you
from debris and pieces of toxic plants
thrown by spinning line.
SKeep handles free of oil and fuel.
SAlways keep the engine on the right hand
side of your body.
SHold the unit firmly with both hands.
SKeep trimmer head below waist level and
away from all parts of your body. Do not
raise engine above your waist.
SKeep all parts of your body away from
muffler and spinning line. Keep engine be-
low waist level. A hot muffler can cause
serious burns.
SKeep firm footing and balance. Do not
overreach or use from unstable surfaces
such as ladders, trees, steep slopes , roof-
tops, etc.
SUse only in daylight or good artificial light.
SUse only for jobs explained in this manual.
