Hardware and software requirements

You must have the following hardware installed on your ThinkPad computer in order to use this option:

vOne or two USB 2.0 ports; Two are required for ″write″ operations.

Your computer must have one of the following operating systems installed to use this option:

vMicrosoft® Windows® XP

vMicrosoft Windows 2000 Professional (Service Pack 4 or later)

Note: The drive will not operate correctly unless Service Pack 4 or later is installed.

Identifying the combo drive components

The following diagrams provide information on the combo drive components, including the controls and connectors. The diagrams below display the top panel, bottom panel, disc open, and using the disc for the first time illustrations.
