Maintenance

This receiver is a precision instrument that is constructed using extremely accurate technology. Dust and friction can affect the pickup lens and disc drive and can impair the image quality. In extreme situations, neither video nor audio can be played back. To obtain optimum picture quality, the DVD receiver should be checked (cleaned and some parts replaced) every 1,000 hours. Note that this period varies depending on the environment (temperature, humidity, dust, and so on) in which the receiver is used.

If the DVD receiver is not being used, the disc tray should remain closed to protect the mechanism against dust. However, it is still possible for the vents to become dirty from dust or the lens could get covered by a thin, hardly visible, film. The DVD receiver is then no longer able to scan the inserted disc. In this case, you need to have the lens cleaned by a technician (Do not attempt to clean the pickup lens by yourself).

Electronic components are subject to a natural aging process and the mechanical parts are subject to normal wear. Dust particles inside the device may also cause faults to occur. For example, problems may occur when the laser lens get dirty.

Consult your authorized dealer in the case of any problems.

You should only use the original packaging to transport the components.

Cleaning components

Before cleaning, switch off the DVD receiver. Clean all components using a wet cloth or a little synthetic cleaner. Solvents, spirits, detergents, and similar cleaners can damage the surfaces of your home theater system components.

Care and handling of discs

Handling discs

Do not touch the playback side of the disc. Hold the disc by the edges so that fingerprints do not get on the surface. Never stick paper or tape on the disc.

Storing discs

After playing, store the disc in its case. Do not expose the disc to direct sunlight or sources of heat and never leave it in a parked car exposed to direct sunlight.

Cleaning discs

Fingerprints and dust on the disc can cause poor picture quality and sound distortion. Before playing, clean the disc with a clean cloth. Wipe the disc from the center out.

Do not use strong solvents such as alcohol, benzine, thinner, commercially available cleaners, or anti-static spray intended for older vinyl records.

Note

Never operate this DVD receiver immediately after moving it from a cold location to a warm location. Leave it for two or three hours without operating it. If you use this product in such a situation, it may damage discs or internal parts.
