Chapter 2. Using the Wireless LAN Configuration Utility
The Wireless LAN Configuration Utility allows you to configure wireless clients, evaluate performance, and display the current status of a wireless network device.
2.1Viewing the Status Icon
The Wireless LAN Configuration Utility starts automatically and places a status icon on the Windows taskbar when Windows starts. The status icon is shown below.
If the status icon is not present do the following:
1.Click the Windows Start menu and click Programs.
2.Click the Intel® PRO/Wireless 2011B LAN USB software menu.
3.Click the Wireless LAN Configuration Utility.
The following colors on the taskbar icon show the status of the wireless device:
Color | Infrastructure mode | Ad hoc mode |
Green | Communicating successfully with an access | Connected to another |

Yellow | Communicating with an access point but the | Yellow is not used in |
