listedbelow,yourrisktoEMIwillbeminimized.
ThesourcesofradiatedEMIcanbebroadlyclassifiedintothreetypes:
1.HandheldPortabletransceivers(transmittersreceiverswiththe
antennamounteddirectlyonthetransmittingunit.Examples
include:citizensband(CB)radios,“walkietalkie”,security,fire
andpolicetransceivers,cellulartelephones,andotherpersonal
communicationdevices).
Somecellulartelephonesandsimilardevicestransmit
signalswhiletheyareON,evenwhennotbeingused.
2.Mediumrangemobiletransceivers,suchasthoseusedinpolice
cars,firetrucks,ambulancesandtaxis.Theseusuallyhavethe
antennamountedontheoutsideofthevehicle;and
3.Longrangetransmittersandtransceivers,suchascommercial
broadcasttransmitters(radioandTVbroadcastantennatowers)
andamateur(HAM)radios.
Othertypesofhandhelddevices,suchascordless
phones,laptopcomputers,AM/FMradios,TVsets,CD
players,cassetteplayers,andsmallappliances,suchas
electricshaversandhairdryers,sofarasweknow,
arenotlikelytocauseEMIproblemstoyourpersonal
transporter.
PersonalTransporterElectromagneticInterference(EMI)
BecauseEMenergyrapidlybecomesmoreintenseasonemoves
closertothetransmittingantenna(source),theEMfieldsfrom
handheldradiowavesources(transceivers)areofspecialconcern.
ItispossibletounintentionallybringhighlevelsofEMenergyvery
closetothepersonaltransporter'scontrolsystemwhileusing
thesedevices.Thiscanaffectpersonaltransportermovementand
braking.Therefore,thewarningslistedbelowarerecommendedto
preventpossibleinterferencewiththecontrolsystemofthepersonal
transporter.
Electromagneticinterference(EMI)fromsourcessuchasradioand
TVstations,amateurradio(HAM)transmitters,two-wayradios,and
cellularphonescanaffectthepersonaltransporter.
Followingthewarningslistedbelowshouldreducethechanceof
unintendedbrakereleaseorpersonaltransportermovementwhich
couldresultinseriousinjury.
